How We Started

Our WCC Value Shop, a social enterprise, was conceived after a successful jumble sale in 2017. WCC was overwhelmed by the generosity from the public through their donations of clothing, accessories and household items. Convinced that Penangites would continue to donate their pre-loved items, WCC volunteer, Rachael Day, dedicated her time and energy to establishing a thrift shop to provide WCC with an additional source of income.

On 19 November 2017 by our fundraising ambassador, Dato’ Annie Chin proudly launched the WCC Value Shop at Island 88 (Island Plaza). Since WCC Value Shop opened its door in 2017, volunteers, donors and customers have directly helped fund the services offered by WCC to vulnerable women and children. What started as a simple idea has now turned into a pro-active community of excited shoppers, charitable donors and committed volunteers that sustains WCC’s work!

Shop for A Good Cause

Shoppers at WCC Value Shop are not only supporting WCC’s work with vulnerable women and children but are also supporting our planet and environment. The WCC Value Shop adopts the concept of being environment-friendly by promoting the principles of 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. When you shop at the WCC Value Shop, you are shopping for two causes – purchase of pre-loved items, reduces the adverse impact on the environment AND the proceeds generated support WCC’s work.

The Value Shop offers reasonably priced pre-loved clothing, household items, accessories and books. Items offered are generally affordably priced between RM2 to RM30 though some exclusive items may be priced higher e.g. luxury brand items and collectibles. Shoppers with limited resources will definitely benefit from shopping here. For the discerning collector, trendy thrifter, bargain hunter and the eco warrior, shopping at the Value Shop is a wonderful “treasure hunting” experience.
