WCC: Who We Are

Vision

WCC envisions an inclusive society free from gender violence and discrimination, and where women can actualise their full potential.

Mission

WCC is committed to:
  • Eliminating violence against women and children
  • Empowering women and children
  • Promoting gender equality and social justice

Our People

We have a team of 16 staff and some 30-50 regular volunteers from different ethnic, social and professional backgrounds who work closely together in different areas of outreach, services, publications and advocacy.

We are led by a General Committee (GC) elected by members at our Annual General Meeting. Each GC member brings unique abilities and experiences to WCC, and as a whole they reflect the diversity of our membership. Besides the GC, we also have various standing committees – made up of staff and key volunteers – for human resources and finance, plus working groups for service and shelter, outreach, advocacy, Pusat Perkhidmatan Wanita (PPW), and the WCC Value Shop, who meet as the need arises.

General Committee

WCC’s GC is responsible for the following:
  • Setting the strategic directions and organisational priorities of the organisation
  • Making and reviewing policy decisions in line with WCC’s vision and mission
  • The financial wellbeing of the organisation, ensuring that good governance prevails
  • Managing and developing both the physical and human assets of the organisation
  • Working in synergy with the staff to achieve WCC’s mission
  • Promoting and upholding the good name of the organisation
  • Providing leadership in seeking partners and building networks to further WCC’s cause

The GC meets every two months to review past, present and future work and new opportunities to ensure that WCC is meeting its objectives.
