The production of publications comes under the publications subcommittee. This important work area is to ensure that relevant and useful materials are being undertaken to complement the various activities and the programs of the WCC. Our WCC publications come in various forms, including:
Annual Review: WCC’s Annual Review describes the different work areas and campaigns undertaken by its committed volunteers and staff. A diary of event details the year’s calendar of activities.
Newslink: This quarterly newsletter, Newslink gives members a brief run down of the activities and programs of the WCC every three months. Our magazine, Herizons, comes out every year or so, contains more analytical articles on issues affecting women and children.
Pamphlets: Over the years, WCC has actively produced pamphlets on domestic violence, rape, child sexual abuse to cater to our women clients and also for our community outreach work. For women’s legal rights, a pamphlet on divorce was also produced. Our pamphlets have been translated into four languages (Malay, English, Chinese and Tamil) in order to reach out to as wide an audience as possible.
Books: The publishing of training manual/handbook as well as research books on women and children came about as a direct experience from our trainings and research. Our training manuals are written in a user friendly approach to enable service providers to use them as part of their work on working with abused women and children. They are available in English and Malay languages.
VCDs: WCC currently has three VCDs in archive: “OK tak OK” siri 2, Membina Perhubungan Mesra (MPM) and Respek siri 1.
Educational Packages: WCC has developed a comprehensive educational package on Bijak Itu Selamat (Be Smart, Be Safe) on child sexual abuse and Respek (on teenage relationship). These resources are used extensively for our outreach work in the primary and secondary schools in Penang and other states.
